While adding some new content to DV Hardware I noticed Google is experimenting with a new type of ad units that look like a combination between their regular ad units and the link units:

So far the only ad unit I’ve seen with these link ads on the bottom is the 728 x 90 leaderboard, I’m not sure if they are trying it on other ad formats too.

Has anyone else seen this before?

I haven’t seen your example but I looked on my AdSense page and noticed they allow you to choose the category for which the ads will be based upon.

I’ll have to play around with 728×90 since I have only played with the new 250×250 one.

I mainly use 300 x 250, those perform pretty good if you place them close to your content.
