1408 review

1408Saturday afternoon me and my girlfriend watched 1408, a thriller which is based on a book from Stephen King.

1408 is about a guy called Mike Enslin, he’s a writer who has published a couple of best sellers in which he debunked supernatural occurrences. He’s in the progress of writing a new book when he suddenly receives an anonymous postcard which tells him not to enter room 1408 of the Dolphin Hotel in New York. Enslin is intrigued by the postcard and is determined to spend the night at room 1408 (an evil room: 1+4+0+8 = 13), even though the hotel manager urges him not to stay in the room.

The hotel manager warns Enslin about the horrific past of this particular room and reveals that 56 people have died in this room, but Enslin is determined to prove him wrong, he thinks it’s all just a myth.

Initially it seems he’s right as the room appears very normal but after a while he’s in for a shock and loses sense of what’s real and what’s not as the room slowly tries to make him commit suicide.

This movie was a bit better than I expected, I give it a 7.5/10. It’s one of the better movie adaptions of Stephen King’s thrillers.
