A lot of the search queries had something to do with the most popular post on my blog but sometimes they were pretty sick. Here’s a sample of some of the search queries:

Leo Chiang, who is perhaps best known for his role as the tattooed pilot on Battlestar Galactica, is holding a new contest on his blog, this time he’s giving away one of the Legendary Editions of the extremely popular Xbox 360 game Halo 3. This limited edition features the cool Spartan helmet scale model and some other goodies.

The rules of the contest are pretty simple:

1.You MUST have a blog.
2.Write a dedicated post about this contest on your blog. It must be a dedicated post and cannot be combined with another post topic.
3.Make sure to link your post to this one.
4.Link the tag, “tattooed pilot on Battlestar Galactica” to this site.
5.Leave a comment here with a link to your post, with your desire to win, so I can properly count you in the contest (ping-backs don’t always work).

I don’t have a Xbox 360 so if I win this prize I’ll just hold my own contest on this blog or DV Hardware

One of the things I like to do each month on this blog is to share some link love at the start of each month. My personal blog has been online for a bit more than 4 months now and I’ve already received more than 350 comments and 1267 spam comments on 163 blog posts.

The “September Top Commentator” award goes to Squaretan who wrote 14 comments. He likes sports and has a blog on this subject with lots of posts about soccer. A few days ago he also published a pretty funny video about a ball guy who throws the ball a bit too low.

Shaun Low scores the second place but unfortunately he decided to sell his blog as he feared it wouldn’t be possible to combine blogging with all his school work.

Leo Chiang scores bronze and has probably spend a lot of time this week on Halo 3. Leo also ate a pretty expensive burger this month and he also found a pretty nice video called “Why Asian guys can’t get white girls“. Halo 3 has created a lot of buzz the past few weeks and I heard a couple of days ago that Halo 3 is one of the most fastest selling products ever. I’m not planning to buy it though – I haven’t played the previous Halo games and I don’t have a Xbox 360 either.

The fourth top commentator is Debo Hobo, she published a post last week about the Top 20 American burgers. Damn, all these food-related posts on blogs these days get me pretty hungry.. She also posted a blurb about that MIT chick who thought it was a good idea to come to an airport with a suspicious-looking sweat shirt with a circuit board, LEDs and several wires sticking out of it.

Next is YC who runs a site called Internet Marketing Mind. Last weekend he talked about making money with Voxant Newsroom.

The sixth top commentator is Niko Lupala. He lives in Sweden but last month he had a pretty good time in the U.S. I haven’t really went on a holiday this year but Carmen and I are already taking a look at some holiday destinations for next year. Perhaps Bulgaria, one of the Canarian islands or a Greec island.

Shawn Knight takes the seventh place. He bought an iPhone last month and wrote an article on creating iPhone ringtones that don’t sound horrible.

At eight we have Gnaka.com, a blog about making money online. The webmaster of that blog stays pretty anonymous and shared some tips on improving your affiliate conversions.

JohnP from the Dell Blog made two comments on my blog this month – to clear up some things about that exploding Dell notebook. Dell announced some carbon neutral plans last week and claims their quite expensive XPS M1730 gaming notebooks are now available in most regions.

Just one more to go now, the tenth top commentator of September was Alan from Hacked Gadgets. Some cool things on his blog: the LEGO toilet flush system, a photo of how a 1GB HDD looked like 20 years ago and the weave mirror.

Now it’s time to play some more World in Conflict

The WordPress folks released a new version of their blogging platform which sports a bunch of new features:

Native tagging support allows you to use tags in addition to categories on your post, if you so choose. We’ve included importers for the Ultimate Tag Warrior, Jerome’s Keywords, Simple Tags, and Bunny’s Technorati Tag plugins so if you’ve already been using a tagging plugin you can bring your data into the new system. The tagging system is also wicked-fast, so your host won’t mind.

Our new update notification lets you know when there is a new release of WordPress or when any of the plugins you use has an update available. It works by sending your blog URL, plugins, and version information to our new
api.wordpress.org
service which then compares it to the plugin database and tells you what the latest and greatest is you can use.

We’ve cleaned up URLs a bunch in a feature we call canonical URLs which does things like enforce your no-www preference, redirect posts with changed slugs so a link never goes bad, redirect URLs that get cut off in emails on similar to the correct post, and much more. This helps your users, and it also helps your search engine optimization, as search engines like for each page to be available in one canonical location. More info here.

Our new pending review feature will be great for multi-author blogs. It allows authors to submit a post for review by an editor or administrator, where before they would just have to save a draft and hope someone noticed it.

There is new advanced WYSIWYG functionality (we call it the kitchen sink button) that allows you to access some features of TinyMCE that were previously hidden.

More details and download at WordPress.

I haven’t updated yet but plan on doing so later today. Hopefully this won’t break any plugins or the theme I’m using.

Update: I just upgraded my blog to version 2.3 and so far everything seems to be working fine.
